Sports Center baseball first half montage song?
trying to figure out what song was played on Sports Center in their highlights review of the first half of the baseball season. I had a hard time catching many of the lyrics, but there was one line I heard a couple of times, something like “these are the times that I spend anticipating” or something like that.
It’s called “masquerade” by No Second Troy.
They showed sportcenter like 6 times in a row so I just waited till the end haah.

All About Service $31.95 In today’s hyper-competitive economy, customer service is how you separate yourself from the pack. But many business leaders don’t truly understand what great customer service is. Great customer service doesn’t just happen at the point of sale, and it doesn’t end when the warranty expires. It requires an organization-wide dedication to giving customers what they want, what they need, and what they value. That kind of customer service starts at the top—with great leadership.Combining the team-building strategies of sports franchises with the principles of Servant-Leadership, It’s All About Service shows business leaders how to build an organization singularly dedicated to customer care—and reap the benefits of long-term customer loyalty. Bringing these powerful forces together, author Ray Pelletier offers a comprehensive plan that leaders can use to make customer service the heart, soul, and profit center of their business.Based on his in-depth, ten-year study of 300 companies, and more than thirty sports teams, Pelletier discovered what makes great customer service companies and great teams so successful: great leadership. You might not think that Servant-Leadership traits—such as vision, character, belief, ethics, collaboration, and enthusiasm—have anything to do with customer service. But when leaders display those traits, they inspire them in their people. As a result, those people take better care of customers.Inside, you’ll find an actionable plan for getting started, helpful resources and exercises that support what you learn, great leadership examples to follow, and fresh ideas to employ. You’ll learn how to inspire, coach, and lead your people, as well as how to care for and listen to them. But most important, you’ll discover the power of leadership that truly cares, and just how great your business can be when it truly cares for its customers. There’s much more to customer service than just a smile and a helpful word; |

American Football in Orlando, Florida: Capital One Bowl, Champs Sports Bowl, Florida Classic $9.16 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: The Capital One Bowl is an annual college football bowl game played in Orlando, Florida at the Citrus Bowl, and previously known as the Tangerine Bowl (1947-1982) and the Florida Citrus Bowl (1983-2002). Financial services company Capital One has been the title sponsor of the bowl since 2001 when it was the Capital One Florida Citrus Bowl but with the exclusive Capital One Bowl moniker since 2003. The bowl is operated by Florida Citrus Sports, a non-profit group which also organizes the Champs Sports Bowl and Florida Classic. Since becoming one of the premier bowls, the Capital One Bowl is traditionally held at 1 p.m. EST on New Year’s Day, immediately before the Rose Bowl, both of which will be televised on ESPN starting in 2011. In 2004, the Capital One Bowl bid to become the fifth BCS game, but was not chosen, primarily due to the stadium’s aging condition. On July 26, 2007 the Orange County Commissioners voted 52 in favor of spending a total of 1.1 billion dollars on building a new arena for the Orlando Magic, building a performing arts center and upgrading the Citrus Bowl. Currently, the bowl has tie-ins with the SEC and the Big Ten holding the first selection after the BCS for both conferences. As of 2006 it has the largest payout of all the non-BCS bowls at $4.25M per team. The game is one of the oldest of the non-BCS bowls, next to the Gator Bowl, Cotton Bowl Classic and Sun Bowl, beginning play in 1947. The first game played before an estimated crowd of 9,000. By 1952, the game was dubbed the “Little Bowl with the Big Heart,” because all the proceeds from the game went to charity. Before 1968 the game featured matchups between schools throughout the South, often featuring the Ohio Valley Conference champion or other small colleges (t… More: |

Beyond the Box Score: An Insider’s Guide to the $750 Billion Business of Sports $9.99 The sports industry is the only industry in the world that commands its own section of the newspaper. Ever-increasing digital, newsprint, and magazine column inches are being devoted to the business of sports each year. A sampling of the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Chicago Tribune on January 29, 2007, for example, showed that 10 out of the 42 sports-related articles in all of the papers combined dealt with some aspect of sports business and focused on off-field activity in the industry. The Wall Street Journal even added a sports section of its own at the beginning of March; Twitter lists dozens of sports business feeds. The casual fan is kept in the dark about to what degree this “pastime” is an incredibly complex multinational operation on par with the biggest Fortune 100 companies, and even with small governments. What are the real components driving this multibillion dollar industry? Who are the alpha team owners – and who are just second-generation followers? How does a $1 billion ballpark get built? What affects the price of your ticket, how you take in a game, what you see on “Sports Center”? Why did free agency change every aspect of the games? Why is an 8 oz. beer at a stadium $10? Horrow and Swatek take an in-depth look at the beyond-the-scenes drivers controlling the fan experience, affecting fans’ perceptions of what happens on the field of play. With a foreword by former National Football League Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, Beyond the Box Score focuses primarily on pro football, basketball, and NASCAR – the biggest revenue-generating segments of the sports industry. The book also contains examples, illustrations, case studies, lists and fantastic facts from all sports as they are relevant and contribute to the main themes and body of knowledge. We also compare and contrast these top three sports with other team, individual, and niche sports. |

Big Shed $4.88 A brilliantly illustrated survey of the colossal and highly engineered structures that have become landmarks around the world.Exhibition centers and sports arenas, factories and warehouses, airports and railway stations, modern museums and concert halls—Big Sheds are at the heart of the modern world. Yet despite their ubiquity and the challenges they present to architects, the story of this branch of architecture has not been told. This book features work by leading architects such as Frank Gehry, Norman Foster, Jean Nouvel, Daniel Libeskind, and Toyo Ito in a geographically diverse set of locations and settings. From the urban demands of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles to the heroic engineering of Kansai Airport in Japan, each of these monumental buildings tests the ingenuity of architects and engineers.Following an introduction to the origins of the Big Shed in nineteenth-century greenhouses and railway architecture, the book is organized into chapters according to the function of the building, ranging from the simplest Big Shed, the exhibition center, to modern museums and concert halls.Featuring dramatic, specially commissioned photographs by Will Pryce plus detailed technical drawings, the book will inform, delight, and inspire architects, architectural students, and anyone who marvels at these feats of modern engineering. 300 illustrations, 250 in color. |

Since it is the only Catholic church currently in service within the city of Hangzhou itself, it is also known simply as Tinzh Táng () or “the Catholic church”. Li Zhizao () was a Ming Dynasty official-scholar and Catholic from Hangzhou working in Beijing, who had been converted and baptized by Matteo Ricci. In 1611, when he received news of his father’s death, he hurried back to Hangzhou and on the way brought with him two Jesuit priests from Nanjing, Lazaro Cattaneo and Nicolas Trigault. They took care of Li Zhizao’s father’s funeral and on May the 8th at the Li family’s residence held the first Mass ever in Hangzhou. One of the new converts in Hangzhou was a wealthy Imperial Inspector named Yang Tingyun (). He and his entire family were originally Buddhist, but upon his conversion he went so far as to turn his home’s Buddhist altar into a chapel. Together, Li Zhizao, Yang Tingyun and Xu Guangqi (of Shanghai) are known as the “Three Pillars of Chinese Catholicism” (). Later in 1616, during a period of persecution against Christians in Nanjing, many refugees fled to Hangzhou where they were at first housed in the homes of Li Zhizao and Yang Tingyun. It was soon realized that a better solution would be required, and in 1627 Yang Tingyun bought a piece of land near Wulin Gate () on Guan Road () and had Hangzhou’s first church built ther… More: |

Carolina Hurricanes Arenas: Hartford Whalers Arenas, Boston Garden, Greensboro Coliseum, Xl Center, Rbc Center $9.16 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: The Boston Garden was an arena which opened November 17, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts. Designed by boxing promoter Tex Rickard, who also built the third incarnation of New York’s Madison Square Garden, the arena was originally called the “Boston Madison Square Garden”, but eventually got clipped to the Boston Garden. It would eventually outlive its original namesake by some 30 years. Located on top of North Station, a train station, which is a hub for MBTA Commuter Rail and Amtrak trains, the Garden hosted home games for the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics, as well as rock concerts, amateur sports, boxing and wrestling cards, circuses and ice shows. It was also used as an exposition hall for political rallies such as the speech by John F. Kennedy in November, 1960. The Boston Garden was demolished in 1997, a few years after the completion of its new successor arena, the FleetCenter, which is now known as TD Garden. Tex Rickard built the arena specifically with boxing in mind, believing that every seat should be close enough to see the “sweat on the boxers’ brows.” Because of this design theme, when the larger hockey and basketball playing areas were used, fans were much closer to the players than in most arenas, leading to a distinct hometown advantage. The closeness also created spectacular acoustic effects. When teams made playoff appearances, and a sold out crowd was chanting or screaming, the impact was enormous. During the 1980s, the Boston Garden was known as the most difficult sporting venue for visiting sports team to visit. The Boston Celtics dominance at home, especially during the mid-80s helped to create this aura. During the 1986 season, the Celtics were 40-1 at home, setting the NBA record for home court mastery. They also fi… More: |

Chicago’s New Negroes: Modernity, the Great Migration, and Black Urban Life $15 As early-twentieth-century Chicago swelled with an influx of at least 250,000 new black urban migrants, the city became a center of consumer capitalism, flourishing with professional sports, beauty shops, film production companies, recording studios, and other black cultural and communal institutions. Davarian Baldwin argues that this mass consumer marketplace generated a vibrant intellectual life and planted seeds of political dissent against the dehumanizing effects of white capitalism. Pushing the traditional boundaries of the Harlem Renaissance to new frontiers, Baldwin identifies a fresh model of urban culture rich with politics, ingenuity, and entrepreneurship. |

Excerpt: Suburban Express is a bus company which serves five midwest universities; University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois State University, Eastern Illinois University, Purdue, and the University of Iowa. Weekend services transport students from all five campuses directly to several suburban Chicago locations.. The Illini Shuttle runs every day from Champaign to the Chicago Airports of O’Hare and Midway and the suburbs. Students of the University of Illinois (UIUC) have had a variety of transportation options over the life of the university. In the early 1980s, most students wishing to travel to the Chicago area used Amtrak (trains), Greyhound Lines (buses) and private automobiles. In 1983, a student of the University of Illinois became dissatisfied with the Amtrak’s high fares and Greyhound’s unreliable service, and started Suburban Express. Suburban Express used a novel business model – that of a “virtual” bus company – in that it did not own any buses or facilities. Rather, it contracted buses from established carriers, sold tickets through a travel agent, and used public streets and suburban malls as its bus stops. The first charter of six buses carried about 300 students to the Chicago suburbs for the Thanksgiving break in 1983 undercutting Greyhound’s prices by $4 to $8. The concept was partially encouraged by a Greyhound bus driver’s strike around the same period. Charter service continued in the spring of 1984, but encountered a few problems. UIUC refused to allow Suburban Express ticket sales at the university travel center because the sch… More: |

Dough Concert, Imperial Theatre (Augusta, Georgia), Miller Theater, Artists’ Row (Augusta, Georgia). Excerpt: The culture of Augusta, Georgia is influenced by the many different perspectives and histories of its community members, as well as its own history. The large African American population of the area as well as the city’s rural surroundings have affected the types of festivals and culture produced within the city. Another major influence on the culture of the city is the annual Masters golf tournament held in April of each year. The most prolific cultural medium produced by the city is its musicians, as evidenced by James Brown, Jessye Norman, and Wycliffe Gordon. Augusta is host to a variety of annual events. The largest event held in the city each year is the Masters golf tournament bringing in around 250,000 visitors. One of the majors of the PGA tour, the Masters is also a major cultural influence on the city. Most semi-professional sports teams in the city are named for puns related to the tournament (the Augusta Greenjackets and the now defunct Augusta Lynx). Many establishments in the city, especially in the area around the Augusta National Golf Club, are also named in a similar manner. Restaurants throughout Augusta use memorabilia from the tournament as decor. In fact, spring break for schools within the Richmond County School System coincides with the tournament, similarly to the timing of school breaks in New Orleans and Mardi Gras. Other annual events include the cultural festival Arts in the Heart of Augusta, the Hip hop concert Mayfest, a… More: |

Don’t Get Duped: A Consumer’s Guide to Health and Fitness $0.99 In the health and fitness industry truth is a scarce commodity, charges Dr. Larry M. Forness. American consumers, exposed to a daily barrage of hype and misinformation about all the products and services that claim to make them healthier and more attractive, annually spend forty billion dollars needlessly on a cornucopia of vitamins, minerals, herbal supplements, ergogenic aids, fitness equipment, and alternative healthcare treatments. In this “survival manual,” Forness’s goal is to teach consumers the critical tools to make them more knowledgeable about these questionable items. The topics covered include the real meaning of ’scientifically proven’ methods for quantitatively analyzing such claims as ‘more energy’ and ‘improved strength’, alternative healthcare treatments vs. hard science, fad diets, aging remedies, abuse of the labels ‘certified’ and ‘licensed’, plus an extremely useful glossary explaining commonly used marketing terms. To reinforce his message, Forness has originated the ‘Bozo du Jour Award’, bestowed on various individuals, groups, or companies that have created or participated in misleading advertising, or have done something that could harm consumers. Before you begin yet another weight loss or fitness program or buy the next healthcare product, you owe it to yourself to read what Dr. Forness has to say.Dr. Larry M. Forness is the founder of the National Center for Sports Medicine and is currently Adjunct Professor of Public Health at American Military University. |

Not illustrated. Excerpt: Gold BlueThe Hudson Valley Bears were an ice hockey team in the Eastern Professional Hockey League. They split their home games between the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, New York and the Ice Time Sports Complex in Newburgh, New York. The Hudson Valley Bears were founded in 2008 as an Eastern Professional Hockey League expansion team. The Bears were the savior of the league. The Bears were founded to be the 4th team in the league and save the EPHL season after Copper City Chiefs and New Hampshire Freeze folded. The Bears had little success during their first season, as they finished their inaugural regular season at 3-45-1-1, finished dead last and missing the playoffs by 54 pts. They also finished last in attendance with average attendance 235. In October 2008, weeks before the first games were scheduled, two franchises pulled out, leaving three teams. Rather than postpone the season, a replacement was cobbled together: the Hudson Valley Bears, who played their home games in Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, New York and the Ice Time Sports Complex in Newburgh, New York. The Bears roster was drawn from a pool of nearly 100 local guys with part-time jobs, as Jim Riggs, the league commissioner, put it. … More: http://booksllc.net/?id=19785454 |

For We Are Gray $17.95 Told from six different points of view, For We Are Gray traces the lives of a tightly knit circle of friends through their deconstruction. Their distinct voices and personalities shine through as they tell the story of themselves.Corey, the moral center of the bunch, carefully documents his life in a tattered and ever-present notebook. Adam thrives on sarcastic remarks that he uses to mask his sensitivity. Jeremy must come to terms with his broken family and poverty-stricken life. Dalia, although flourishing in her all-male environment, must reexamine every decision she has made since befriending her pack at the turning point of her life. James is a sports-infatuated kid who tries hard in everything he does, often with no prevail, and Marty is an untouchable, demoralized teenager who believes the problem lies in everyone but himself. A long-coming fight tears the group apart, and each is effected in their own way. As they struggle to come to terms with themselves, each looks back on their history as a group, and wonders where things went wrong; and for the first time ever, their differences are not something to be celebrated. |

Auszug: Grazer AK, founded 18 August 1902 as Grazer Athletik-Sport Klub (in Austria the abbreviation GAK is more common), is an Austrian sports club, from the city of Graz in the federal state of Styria (Steiermark). The football section is one of the most traditional Austrian clubs, most successful in the decade 1995 – 2005. The other sections are basketball, diving and tennis. The club arose from an informal association of local academics around the medical student Georg August Wagner from Prague, later a professor at the Charles University and the Charité in Berlin. Acquainted with football from his hometown, he organised the first public match in present-day Austria on March 18, 1894 in the Graz municipal park. The Grazer Athletik-Sport-Club – modeled after the Wiener AC – was established eight years later on the 72nd birthday of Emperor Francis Joseph. During the 2006-2007 season, ‘Grazer AK’ went into administration. The club was docked 28 points as a result. In the 2007-2008 season, the club was not allowed to participate in the professional leagues and was relegated to the Austrian Regional League Center. After a second bankruptcy, the club managed to achieve a settlement and accommodation with its creditors in September, 2008, ensuring its survival. GAK celebrates its Austrian Championship 2004 on Hauptplatz in Graz. Note: Flags indicate national team as has been defined under FIFA eligibility rules. Players may hold more than one non-FIFA nationality. List of international games of GAK in UEFA-Cup, Champions League Qualification, Cupwinners’ Cup and in Fairs’ Cup: |
